Lori Gerard, MD

Dr. Gerard is board certified in both internal medicine and endocrinology. She received her medical degree from The University of Colorado Health Sciences Center and completed internship and residency in internal medicine at the University of Colorado.  She served as Chief Medical Resident in internal medicine prior to her fellowship in endocrinology. She completed a fellowship at the University of Colorado with specialty training in Diabetes, Endocrinology, and Metabolism. Dr. Gerard enjoys all areas of endocrinology but has special interests in diabetes (Type 1, Type 2, Gestational), thyroid disease, and osteoporosis.

Dr. Gerard has a unique personal and professional dedication to optimize glucose control in her patients with diabetes that involves shared decision making. She has particular interest and experience in intensive insulin therapy, insulin pumps, and managing women with diabetes during pregnancy. She has been involved in research studies involving inhaled insulin therapy, newer insulin analogs, insulin pumps, and continuous glucose monitoring.  She is also involved in multidisciplinary studies involving glucose control strategies during pregnancy and improved neonatal outcomes. She is a guest speaker on various topics related to diabetes and technology. 

Dr. Gerard has had special training in thyroid ultrasonography allowing for in-office evaluation of thyroid nodules and ultrasound guided biopsy if indicated. As a recent graduate of the University of Colorado, she has had extensive training on the management and surveillance of thyroid cancer.
